known as the late bloomer of the Swiss poetry slam scene. During his twenty years in the areas of literature for young audiences, poetry slam and spoken word he has initiated and supported many a project:

He is

  • Co-founder and president of solarplexus, the association for the advancement of literature for young audiences, which is devoted to the topic of poetry slams in schools and to organizing the under-twenty slam championships in the cantons SG, TG and ZH and publishes the slam-magazine NERV
  • Co-initiator of the Swiss under-twenty slam championships
  • Host of Slam!Gallen
  • Initiator and director of the Swiss slam-portals und 
  • Managing director of the project for the advancement of reading skills in eastern Switzerland „Literatur aus erster Hand“
  • Co-initiator and managing director of the St. Gallen literature days Wortlaut
  • Member of the board of directors of the society for the German language and literature in St. Gallen
  • Cultural councillor of the canton Appenzell Ausserrhoden
  • Member of the board of trustees of SJW Schweizerisches Jugendschriftwerk and
  • Managing director of kklick, the cultural agency for the cantons SG and AR

Since 2011 Richi Küttel has been a member of the world’s best St. Gall reading stage “Tatwort”. In 2014 his CD “Eidgenossä” was published by the d&a.-edition of Der gesunde Menschenversand, comprising his spoken word texts about the regular’s table in the Drei Eidgenoss tavern.

Richi Küttel is the recipient of the following prizes:

  • 2002 Literary grant of the canton St. Gallen
  • 2005 Grant of the city of St.Gallen for the launch of the under-twenty slam championships
  • 2005 Dietschweiler-Preis for his work for the under-twenty slam championships
  • 2011 Award of Internationale Bodenseekonferenz IBK together with his wife Lisa Küttel for their literary promotion efforts
  • 2011 Award of the St.Gall cultural council for his literary promotion efforts
